For Bike Month, the Scenic Route caught up with Rep. Earl Blumenauer, Capitol Hill's most prominent cyclist, to get the inside scoop on new legislation that would provide tax credits for electric bikes. Learn more about the E-BIKE Act here.
Being a filmmaker on a budget can be tough, especially if you're trying to capture awesome action shots that don't look like they were taken with a camcorder in a bounce house.
Rad Power Bikes unveiled a different kind of electric bike today: a single-speed marvel that's just $999 -- the ebike heavyweight's most affordable price point to date. According to Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, his company's top competitor isn't Prime Video or Hulu. In fact, it's not even a rival streaming service at all. It's sleep. How can that be? Sleep isn't pouring millions into advertising or going out of its way to develop top-notch shows.
In 2008, newly-minted Skype CEO Josh Silverman had a problem. Sluggish growth at Skype had caused his team's morale to take a nosedive. This was a problem in itself, but it also threatened to derail his plan to launch a groundbreaking new feature: full-screen video calls.
Have you ever been bored and caught yourself checking Instagram just seconds after you closed it? I'm sure you didn't reopen it because you had an overwhelming urge to see more pics of your college roommate's lunch. You did it without thinking, like it was second nature.

The National Press Club
While CNN viewers are used to seeing Clarissa Ward reporting from war zones, natural disasters, and other tense situations, the network's chief foreign correspondent made an appearance Wednesday evening in decidedly friendlier territory: the National Press Club Ballroom. CNN Foreign Correspondent Clarissa Ward delivers remarks after receiving the National Press Club's Fourth Estate Award Wednesday.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams called on the media to apply more scrutiny to the firearm industry during an appearance Tuesday at the National Press Club. "On behalf of every mayor, every victim of gun violence, and every American, I'm asking for your help to expose the gun industry in this country for what it truly is: a betrayal of American values and American freedom," he said at a Club Newsmakers event.
National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Dr. Francis Collins warned a virtual National Press Club audience on Oct. 23 that U.S. efforts to eradicate COVID-19 could be significantly delayed if large portions of the American public refuse an eventual vaccine.

Derrick Johnson, interim president of the NAACP, said Aug. 29 the Trump White House was responsible for the conditions that led to this month's deadly violence at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. "Unfortunately, this administration has created an atmosphere that has allowed domestic terrorists to exist," Johnson said at a National Press Club Headliners Luncheon.
Plenty has been written about the trouble skyrocketing gas prices may pose to the White House, but MSNBC editorial cartoonist and new National Press Club member Daryl Cagle sums the topic up with no words whatsoever. Drawn in thick black lines, Cagle's latest piece shows Obama, complete with exaggerated ears and a pronounced chin, looking warily over his shoulder.

Illustrations by Garth von Ahnen Beto O'Rourke was a punk rocker. If you didn't know that by now, then you haven't read any of the many profiles penned on Texas' Democratic Senatorial candidate. While his state's Republican party has tried to turn that factoid into a slam, it clearly hasn't been working.
